There is nothing more classic – and classy – than jazz on Valentine’s Day! Join us at the beautiful Newberry Opera House for a brilliant afternoon of sultry and soulful jazz presented by a swinging Little Big Band! With vocals by Eboni Ramm and Adams Way, you will experience the sounds reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald to Frank Sinatra. Our specially crafted jazz program “Cupid Swings” will have your toes tapping and hearts thumping.

The “ColaJazz Little Big Band: the band that could!” is a 9-piece ensemble presenting a wide variety of large ensemble music from Big Band repertoire to the classic small group sound. Comprised of world-class and celebrated musicians from the Midlands and beyond, your South Carolina jazz artists will blow you away with our Valentine’s Day jazz concert!

“Our little big band packs a big punch!” says Mark Rapp, Director of ColaJazz. “ColaJazz has a variety of performing ensembles for our educational and outreach efforts. This perfectly sized nonet is geared towards all ages and aims to entertain, educate and further the love of jazz. With this dynamic ensemble, ColaJazz is able to present repertoire from small group jazz to the greatest compositional works by Gil Evans, Count Basie, Duke Ellington to modern big bands such as the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.”

The ColaJazz Foundation is dedicated to grow, support and promote jazz in and around the Midlands through events, education, recordings, resources and advocacy in order to create a thriving culturally rich community.
